I’ve seen a few pirated versions of WordPress themes come out over the last few years, trying to pass themselves off as “free” versions of the real ones at WooThemes and other themes providers. The funny thing is that they don’t mention the malware installed in the theme, or the dodgy link backs in the footer.php code using base64_encode() to output it.
To those that are using them, the GPL is NOT an excuse to get away with pirating themes, grow up and buy the theme or stop whining that your site got a virus, or worse still got hacked. $30-$100 for a quality theme is not a lot of money and you get quality support, regular updates and upgrades, and bug fixes with that. It’s a no brainer really…
